A short term rental home offering the best Rocky Mountain views
Alpina Haus is a short-term rental home nestled in the mountains of Black Hawk, Colorado, offering the best Rocky Mountain views.

- View from the master bedroom windows
- My favorite seat of the house
I’ve been keeping an eye on this house on Instagram for the last two years, always knowing I’d find a way to stay there someday. I go to Black Hawk, Colorado, for work pretty often, and that’s how I stumbled upon Alpina Haus. While sharing my trips, I connected with Alpina Haus and got into their reels, waiting for the right moment to book my stay. And then, it finally happened! I had a business trip coming up, and my friend Vicki and I decided that it was time! Keep reading to see why this house is so awesome, why I think it has the best Rocky Mountain views, and how we made the most of our time there.
Why this house?
- The rare Atlas Comet can be seen in the sky above the Rocky Mountains from the patio
- The view from the patio at sunset
- Sunset behind the mountains
The View
I walked in and saw that the blinds hung mostly closed. It felt like unwrapping a gift as I opened them one by one, revealing a breathtaking view that seemed almost unreal, like a painting. Before me lay a range of rolling hills adorned with aspen trees, against the majestic Rockies in the background, their peaks lightly touched by clouds.
The Wildlife
- We had our first deer visitor close to the house
- On the first morning, four deer lingered in the trees just outside the house
- One of the many turkeys at the bottom of the hill
The reels on the Instagram account featuring animals approaching the property captured my attention. They showcased guests enjoying the view from the living space, with a wall of windows offering breathtaking sights of the mountain range and close-up views of the wildlife. I spotted deer, turkey, moose, elk, and even a bobcat in those reels. Fascinating.
On our first night, we sat on the patio when a group of large turkeys made their way up the hill in the trees toward the house, stopping just short of the yard. That was okay; we still got to see them.
- A group of deer that visited
- A deer and her fawn are stopping to take a drink
- Another fawn
After dark, a mule deer came by to drink from the water bucket in the yard. In a playful mood, we turned off all the lights to make it easier to see the deer since it was dark. I felt like a kid in a fun house—so excited!
The next morning, when I opened the shades in the dining room, four deer were standing in the trees!
Then on another morning, four deer—two adults and two fawns—came by the house. They stopped to drink some water before moving around to the front and out to the road. Again, I had opened the shades, this time in the master bedroom, and I saw them! They saw me, too. I watched them, and they watched me back!

This comfortable property features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a nice kitchen, a dining table, a fireplace, a hot tub, and a patio. We used the patio often, one evening grilling steaks.
However, the highlight of the stay is undoubtedly the stunning views. While at the house, we spent hours in front of the large windows, admiring the scenery and majestic mountains, watching the birds, and looking for wildlife. Thanks to the wall of windows, captivating, breathtaking views are at every angle.
- The stone fireplace in the living room
- View from the hot tub
- Third bedroom
We stayed at the house for four nights, which served as a great home base with friends. I began my visit by working and meeting clients in town. The casinos in Black Hawk are about two miles down the mountain.
The owners and property manager were a pleasure to work with. They even asked us before our arrival if we had all the cooking supplies and spices we needed. They notified us when the critter cam activated, so we rushed to the windows to take a look. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.
Final Thought
On our last evening, after dinner in Boulder, we headed back up the mountain to the Alpina Haus. The surroundings gradually transformed into a winter wonderland with snow-capped trees.

- This was a common sitting spot during our visit
- Snow capped mountain view
Knowing it was our final night, it felt as though God allowed us to experience His magnificence in all its glory. Starting our visit with the vibrant fall colors and concluding with a beautiful white winter paradise.
This scene provided another reason to sit and gaze out those wonderful windows the following morning before leaving. It became a meditation, allowing that breathtaking view to wash over me, filling me with peace and inspiration. I returned home relaxed, motivated and uplifted. The home, the mountains, the wildlife, and good friends made the experience unforgettable.
If you’re looking to escape and find a little piece of heaven for a few days, this is the place to do it. Be sure to explore the beautiful landscape and truly experience it. However, make time to return, relax, and take in the view. Let me know if you agree it has the best Rocky Mountain views. Refresh your soul. That’s what I did. I can leave knowing that, having been here in God’s Country, I feel rejuvenated and ready to return home, knowing I’m a better person for it.
