Looking for a local restaurant for breakfast while staying in Indianapolis led me to a charming French-inspired bistro with incredible coffee, cozy neighborhood vibes, and a breakfast worth slowing down for.

The Tale

I’m out of town for work, staying at The Bottleworks Hotel in Indianapolis. I wanted to find a local breakfast spot that’s got some character and great food, so I did a quick Google search. That’s when I came across Petite Chou Bistro and Champagne Bar. Their website claims it’s “a reinvention of the iconic French neighborhood restaurant,” and they’ve even been a James Beard Foundation semifinalist five times! Plus, with both “bistro” and “Champagne” in the name, it sounded like the perfect place to check out.

The Restaurant

Parking is super convenient since it’s right next door, and it feels like you’re in a cozy neighborhood. We head to the front entrance, passing through a covered patio filled with beautiful flowers everywhere. There are splashes of pink, red, and white all around. We settle at a small bistro table by the sidewalk and place our orders.

The Food

I ordered the Everyone’s Omelette, which came with a side of greens and multigrain toast. My colleague decided to go for the French Toast. As much as I would have loved to order a Champagne (it is in the name, after all), I had a meeting to attend, so I skipped the alcohol. However, the coffee was amazing.

Final Thought

The Petite Chou Bistro and Champagne Bar was a fabulous way to start the day. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, and to find a local Indianapolis restaurant like this with so much character and great food is amazing. I’ll need to come back when I don’t have to go to work, so I can experiment with that ‘Champagne bar’ that is so nicely advertised in their title.
