Bottleworks Hotel: A Boutique Hotel in Indianapolis’ Historic Bottleworks District
A Very Unique boutique Hotel in the Heart of the Indianapolis Bottleworks District.
The Tale
I’m heading to Indianapolis for work. My good friend Julie once told me about this cool boutique hotel in Indianapolis over lunch. “Bev, it’s the type of hotel you’ll love,” she said. She gets me. I remembered her recommendation when I needed a place to stay in Indianapolis, so I booked it. But that’s not the end of the story. I’ve actually gone back more than once! My latest trip for work brought me there again—I just couldn’t resist. Keep reading to find out more about this cool, funky, fun, and truly unique hotel.
The Hotel
The Bottleworks Hotel is located in a building rich in history — Coca-Cola history, that is. The Coca-Cola Bottling Company lived here in the ‘20s until 1964, when it was purchased and moved. In 2016, the building was purchased by a developer who helped turn the area into the Bottleworks District. It is a hub for history, arts, and entertainment. The hotel has an art deco style, designed by Robush & Hunter in the 1920s. The new developers sought to restore and preserve as much of the original design as possible. It opened as a hotel in 2021. It was quick on my top 10 list of hotels.

What Stood Out Upon My Arrival?
The stunning art deco style of the lobby was breathtaking, featuring carefully preserved details from the bold tiles on the walls to the terrazzo floors. You can’t help but feel transported back in time.

The Room
The walk to the room was quite the adventure! The hallways were super wide, and the doors were this eye-catching Coca-Cola red. There were cozy little sitting areas that felt like mini lobbies on each floor. And those giant black-and-white portraits on the walls? Seriously impressive! I took my time soaking it all in because it was just so cool.

The windows in the room were seriously the best part! I loved them! They were positioned just right, so I could lie in bed and take in the massive sky. It was so relaxing to look at the view that evening and the next morning. Honestly, it was the highlight of my stay. The windows were so amazing that I can’t imagine anyone wanting to cover them up with shades.
If you’re thinking about booking a room with those amazing windows, definitely ask for the Gilded King room since not all of them have those cool features. Honestly, those windows really make the hotel experience better. Another great option is the Terrace King, which has a cozy little outdoor space and awesome views of the sky, plus those fantastic windows too!
Additionally, the bed was cozy and comfortable. The room was a good size, with an added sitting section and lovely design details.

The Bathroom, was It Fabulous?
The bathroom was luxurious with marble floors, brass fixtures, and an enormous shower.

The Details: Share The Details
I loved that they had branded wine in the room! The steel beams from the old plant added a cool vibe, giving a nod to the past. Plus, the bedroom had electric blinds, which made opening and closing them a breeze. Oh, and I have to mention the awesome photo of Johnny Depp on the wall—you have to know me to understand.
And the best part? I didn’t have to move any furniture or crawl around on the floor. All the outlets were conveniently placed and super easy to reach.

I absolutely love the 5-foot-tall black-and-white portraits lining the hallways. You’ll spot famous musicians and actors right next to industrial workers, and it really adds a cool vibe to the hotel.

Food And Drink: What Is Available?
Lots. I began straightaway with a cocktail at Sundry & Vice and then afterward moseyed over to Modita for dinner. The Garage Food Hall is across from the hotel, and The Fountain Room, a steakhouse, is on site. The Blue Collar Coffee Co. opens at 6 am for breakfast. The newest addition is Piedra Mexican Steakhouse, which opened in October 2025. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but I will on my next visit!

BOTTOM LINE on this boutique hotel in Indianapolis
To wrap it up, this hotel is an amazing boutique spot in a great part of Indianapolis, and I’m a big fan. It has a cool vibe, loads of history, and really nice design. Everything feels special, and the service is top-notch. It’s definitely shot to the top of my favorites list!
