The Farnam, an Omaha Luxury Hotel
Location: 1299 Farnam Street, Omaha, Nebraska, USA, 68102
The Farnam, part of the Autograph Collection by Marriott, is an Omaha luxury hotel that offers everything: an excellent location, comfort, top-notch amenities, fine dining, and an overall sense of indulgence. Its high price tag typically kept it out of my budget, making it more appealing. However, I finally had the opportunity to stay at this incredible Omaha luxury hotel. Please continue reading to learn more about why it is considered a high-end option and to hear about my experience during my stay.
The Tale
I’ve been keeping an eye on this Omaha luxury hotel for a while. Every time I visit Omaha for business, I consider staying here, but it is usually out of my price range. Typically, it’s the most expensive hotel in the city during my visits. However, I finally found it at a price that fit my budget, so I jumped at the chance to book a stay.
The Welcome
I rolled up to the valet in my Dodge Ram 1500 rental truck. They came right over, light heartedly joking around about my massive truck and saying the rental place must’ve thought I should blend in here in Nebraska. Off to a good start.
As I approached the desk and provided my name, the attendant could not find my reservation. After several minutes of looking up my confirmation number, he eventually located me. However, for some reason, my reservation was listed only under my first name in his system, despite my confirmation clearly showing my full name. As a gesture for the inconvenience, which really wasn’t much of a hassle, he offered me an upgrade to a suite. Not just any suite, he explained that it was his favorite, boasting the best views of the city.
The Room
I thanked him and went to check out this amazing suite. Seriously, he wasn’t kidding. As soon as I stepped into the living room with the dining area and wet bar, I was mesmerized by the huge wall of windows. The view of the city was incredible! I wandered over to the windows, walked down a hallway past the bathroom, and found myself in the bedroom. The windows wrapped around two sides of the room, and it was just gorgeous.

It felt like a cozy apartment. I played with the electric shades, opening them as wide as possible to let the warm sunset shine through the windows as I gazed at the city, noting my location and the points of interest I was familiar with. I could see across the river into Iowa and the casino I would visit for work in the morning.
The pillows were awesome! I considered checking for a tag to find some to buy for my home. Maybe a quick Google search will help—I wouldn’t be surprised if the hotel sells them! The bed was just right, too.
It was surprisingly quiet. A hotel room in the city that’s actually peaceful? That’s rare. But this one? Yep, it was quiet.
The bathroom was also lovely, with a shower and just the correct pressure and temperature.
The Food
The Lobby Bar

- The lobby
At 4 PM, I wandered down to the lobby bar to grab a cocktail while I waited for the restaurant to open for dinner. They had an extensive drink menu, but I went with a classic Old Fashioned, and it was really good. A couple of friends were at the bar playing cards and having cocktails and a charcuterie board.

- A steak at Dynamite Woodfire Grill
When Dynamite Woodfire Grill opened, I had to check it out. I think Omaha has the best steaks, and being in Nebraska, the “beef state,” I definitely needed to try one. As I walked in, the first thing that hit me was the smell. It reminded me of sitting by a firepit at home with a bourbon in hand. I was instantly relaxed. And don’t even get me started on the enticing aroma of that Old Fashioned cocktail—so good! The fantastic scent was coming from the wood fire in the open kitchen. I snagged a table with a full view of the fire to watch everything happen.
The steak was excellent. How can I describe it better? The cook grilled it to perfection, seasoned perfectly, and incredibly tender. The service was exceptional, and the decor was stunning.
Breakfast was great, too. With the sun not quite up, I sat near the window and watched the city on this small block slowly wake up and move as the sun rose.
Lone Tree Landing
Lone Tree Landing is the perfect place to grab coffee, water, snacks, or breakfast and lunch bites if you’re in a hurry.
Catalyst
Catalyst is a cocktail bar. I couldn’t experience this on my trip, but it looks incredible. Compared to what I experienced, I am sure it lives up to that.
The Location
The Farnams location is perfect; it is downtown and near Old Market. It is within walking distance of many restaurants and shops and has easy interstate access.

What else?
- Artwork in the guest room suite living room
- Champagne in the lobby
- Wifi worked perfectly
As I left Dynamite, I went to talk to the front desk attendant. He asked me if I wanted a glass of champagne. In the confusion of checking in, my name not being correctly listed in his system, and the upgrade, he had forgotten to offer me a glass of champagne upon my arrival. “Of course! I’ll have a glass,” I replied. I wanted to sit in the lobby for a moment anyway to get a feel for the place and relax, which is precisely what I did.
A nice touch is that they have incorporated art throughout the hotel from local artists. A hotel featuring local art? I absolutely love it!
The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, and the dining room island in my upgraded suite was an ideal spot to sit and catch up on work. Check-out was a breeze, and the valet retrieved my large Dodge truck rental in just a few minutes.
More about this Omaha Luxury hotel
This hotel is a relatively new establishment that opened in May 2021. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I am fond of hotels in historic buildings. However, I also appreciate newer hotels, especially when they have an interesting story behind them. Henry Farnam is the person whose name graces this hotel. He played a significant role in the Pacific Railroad Act, which helped establish the railroad’s presence in Omaha.

- The bathroom shower is visible through the hallway door, featuring windows that offer views of Omaha

This Omaha luxury hotel also aims to make you feel like one of the early billionaires who came to Omaha to build their fortunes. They want to provide you with a sense of luxury and pampering. While it may be the most expensive hotel in Omaha, when you compare their prices to cities like San Francisco or Chicago, they are actually quite affordable. You certainly get a lot for your money here, and I can personally attest to feeling like a million bucks during my stay. I highly recommend jumping at the opportunity to stay here.
