Creating Lasting Memories with My Granddaughter at Heirloom Candle Bar

The Tale

I am in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to visit my grandkids. My eldest granddaughter is having a sleepover with me in my hotel room at The Graduate Hotel, located in downtown Fayetteville. Together, we are exploring the Square and Block Street. She is showing me around the area and familiarizing me with the places she loves. Having lived here her entire life, she knows exactly what to do in downtown Fayetteville.

While checking out the shops we wanted to visit the next day and peeking through the windows, we stumbled upon a store that stopped me in my tracks. It wasn’t what I saw that got me; it was the amazing smell that drew me in. I stood right in front of the shop, totally captivated by this aroma that I couldn’t quite place. It was a mix of flowers and vanilla, among other things, and it smelled absolutely incredible.

I searched for a sign to identify the shop: Heirloom Candle Bar. Ah, candles! That explained the heavenly scent. I told my granddaughter that we definitely needed to explore this place during our adventures in downtown Fayetteville tomorrow. Who knows? Pouring candles with my granddaughter may be one of the most fun things to do in Fayetteville!

The Candle Making Process

The next day, as we strolled through the shops, we found ourselves in front of the Heirloom Candle Bar once again. This time, we decided to go inside. As we entered, a young woman greeted us. I asked her, “What exactly is a candle bar?” She explained that we could pour our own candles! I was excited and thought, “Yes! Let’s do this!” Fortunately, they welcomed us as walk-ins since they had available space, but they also accept group reservations. What a great time that would be for a group!

We got to pick our own vessels, choose fragrances, and even name our candles. The whole demonstration on how to make them was a blast! I’m happy we decided to do this.

Picking the fragrance was definitely the trickiest part. I chose my vessel right away, but my granddaughter and I spent forever sniffing different scents and mixing them to find the right combo. My nose was almost overwhelmed! But I finally settled on a mix of Apricot and Coconut, which I thought would be perfect.

Once we sat down at the table, we learned how to measure and pour the wax and fragrances, and then we named our candles. I went with “Fayetteville Sunset,” and my granddaughter picked “Peach Vanilla Breeze.” I wanted my candle to remind me of my time in Northwest Arkansas, especially the gorgeous sunsets I enjoyed with my grandkids from the balcony at the Graduate by Hilton.

Clean Candles

These candles burn cleanly. What does that mean? They create these candles using all-natural soy wax, which means they release no chemical byproducts during the burning process. This is better for everyone! It’s something I can feel good about.

What Else?

If you’re short on time and can’t come in to create your candle, you can easily customize one online. However, why not take the opportunity to enjoy the experience in person? It’s a wonderful way to bond with others and create lasting memories together!

Final Thought

We had a wonderful time making candles at The Heirloom Candle Bar, and I would love to do it again. After we finished, we had to leave our candles to set for a day or so. Since I had to head home before mine was ready, my granddaughter, who lives in Fayetteville, picked them up a couple of days later and sent it to me with her dad during a trip he made. It was such a great experience! It was one of the most fun things to do in Fayetteville.
